October 18, 201610 yr This thought came to me in my reply to @woodsrider. First of all, I'm a HUGE fan of SEC football. Secondly, I am not a HUGE fan of the Big 10 (minus one team). My thought in the other post was that the Big 10 was better this year, now, in looking at match-ups, I was clearly wrong. Here would be the match-ups (based on current conference standings [yes, I know Arkansas is better than UK, but that isn't how the standings are today by Conference Record]) if they all met on a neutral field this weekend (with my approximate line in parentheses): 1. Ohio State vs Alabama (Alabama -2) 2. Michigan vs Texas A&M (Michigan -8) 3. Nebraska vs Florida (Florida -1.5) 4. Iowa vs Auburn (Auburn -10) 5. Penn State vs LSU (LSU -10) 6. Northwestern vs Tennessee (Tennessee -9) 7. Wisconsin vs Kentucky (Wisconsin -17) 8. Minnesota vs Georgia (Georgia -3) 9. Maryland vs Arkansas (Arkansas -7.5) 10. Indiana vs Ole Miss (Ole Miss -17) 11. Purdue vs Mississippi State (Mississippi State -13) 12. Illinois vs Vanderbilt (Vandy -4.5) 13. Michigan State vs South Carolina (Michigan State -1) 14. Rutgers vs Missouri (Missouri -17) I was dead wrong about the SEC matching up with the Big 10, when I took the time to do a little work on it. Now, it is based on today's standings, which will change a lot in the next month, but it is what it is. @woodsrider, this is my apology!!
October 18, 201610 yr Wisconsin fell from #8 in the country to playing Kentucky in MTGL's quasi-championship. Now that's a fall from grace!
October 18, 201610 yr Author Wisconsin should be playing Florida and Kentucky should be playing Purdue. Wisconsin has the 7th best Conference Record in the Big 10 today, it is what it is. I didn't editorialize.

October 18, 201610 yr I'd take the top 4 teams from the Big 10 over the top 4 from the SEC. In the end we judge conferences based on what is at the top. The Big 10 also outside of Saban and Meyer, which is essentially a push, is more well coached. I'll take Harbaugh, Riley, and Chryst over Sumlin, Beilamma, and McElwain.

I think Nebraska would beat Florida on Saturday if they were playing in Ann Arbor, or some other non-geographically tilted neutral site, but I do think Florida would be a SLIGHT favorite. Auburn would mud-stomp Iowa on Saturday if they played.

Also while Tommy Armstrong isn't the most consistent QB around, he would be able to score on Florida. I don't think Florida could score enough against Nebraska. Auburn would kill Iowa. Iowa is garbage.
