Bath Co 32 Morgan Co 18

Bath County is off to a great start. Im not sold on the competition they are playing right now. Should be interesting come district time.

MVP, I'm looking at this from a long-term point of view. Winning breeds winning. It builds confidence, enthusiasm, support, more kids participating.

LCA started it's program in 1999 by playing "weaker" teams, and getting stomped by them! Then we started beating them. That was because more kids were coming out. And the more we won, even against weaker teams, the more support and participation we received.

Now we are playing strong teams, and hanging with them. Bath county will reach this point in time, and I will be glad for them. As I said in another thread, the stronger our district is, the better we will all be come playoff time.

Stevens had 210 rushing yards on 39 carries

Bath County Fumbled the football away 4 times and threw an interception.

Take nothing away from Morgan they have low numbers and some injuries.

Flip the coin Bath County was with out a starting wideout/CB Justin Mitchell since halftime against West (Remember Mitchell #4 the play maker from last season & back up QB) also Aaron Roberts was slowed with injuries. add in that the leading tackler and second for the night were fighting possible mono and a stomach virus.

Bath gets a week to heal before they face Fairview.

Also before the game Coach Hoy "Muff" Miller was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The last time Bath County went 3-0 to start a season I am guessing was the late 80's to early 90's.

The stadium and field look great still a few minor things to finish up. They come early tailgate and make Football what it should be fun for all including the fans.

P.S. Thanks to the crew that fed me! Brats and football a winning combination so keep 'um coming.

That is great for the community there in Bath Co. They used to have some nice teams in the Swartz/Ramey days.

I went to MSU the same time as Schwartz did, where is he at now?

I think you mean SWARTZ not Schwartz he has been working in the Cincy area for a company non-sports hate to say for sure the type because I don't remember.

Congrats to Bath County on an outstanding start (3-0) they have a few more playmakers than Morgan County right now and up front the offensive and defensive lines of Bath County outplayed Morgan County Friday night.

Stevens was solid, Metz is a brute, and Clemons is a great athlete...perhaps makes a bigger difference on the defensive side of the ball, reason being Bath Co. had nobody last year who could make a tackle in the open field. When you get your athletes out and play, good things happen.

A few other notes....

QB John Robert Henderson was 'doubtful' most of the week, he is injured and showed great courage...you could tell, he never "kept" the football and made some different reads than he normally would have.

A big absence on both sides of the ball was Derrick Young, the 1,200 yard rusher from last year and human fire hydrant is still nursing an injuring.

Morgan did graduate 12 seniors and a boat load of playmakers....on a positive side, sophomore Ryan Buckler #65 made it back in the lineup at Center...it was thought heart issues would sideline him for the year, and after he gets his strength back completely should help the offensive line.

I thought Bath Co. would probably would probably win again if they played this year, but would like to have seen a better "spotting" of the football. On a crucial 4th and 3 deep in Cougar territory Bath Co. got a very favorable spot...led to TD. In the 4th, Morgan County on a 4th and 1 got a ? spot and take any momentum out of the sails...but those were MINOR factors in this football game, everything else was o.k. imo, Bath County is very deserving and the Wildcats will make the "A" playoffs this season. I wish them very well.

Sophomore Brandon Ward scored on a nice TD gallop and Wes Montgomery scored 2 TD's...1 receiving and 1 rushing.

The Wildcats were very quick to the football and were much bigger than the Cougars. I really thought the defensive line of Bath County should be applauded for their efforts. They controlled the line of scrimmage and when you control the line of scrimmage, you will win football games.

I thought the new Bath Co. stadium was nice, addition of track, etc. New press box with bleachers, but the actually field was a little shaky...give it time and it'll be great I'm sure...along with a new complex has come and new attitude and direction in Bath Co. football, congrats and good luck this season to a well deserving team and community.

Since the beginning of last season, Morgan County has lost or injured a whopping (4) Quarterbacks:creepy: and their current one is injured

Alex Collins (Broken thumb vs. West Carter/graduated)

Zeke Hall (Injured ankle mid point of season/graduated)

Andrew Fannin (Promising QB that led Cougars to victory at Lewis Co. last year, was going to be starting QB this year but he tore rotator cuff for 2nd time in summer, done)

Logan May (Back up QB this year and last, but extended illness has forced him to retire from football)

John Robert Henderson (Injured in Rowan Co. game, was ? for Bath but is playing)

Nets I was in no way taking anything away from Morgan they played with lots of heart. How is the big guy doing I seen him go out but unsure if he returned. It was either 70 or 72. I wish the best of Luck to the Cougars if they were to get just a few wins I hope one is a beating of Fleming Co.

Keep their heads up and maybe all can get healed and make a run in districts for a playoff spot. We will see ya next year in the district with the new alignment good news for both teams lots of youth seeing lots of action.

#70 was Clay Adkins and #72 Charles Gilbert...

It was Gilbert who returned the fumble a few yards before getting walloped...watching him go to the ground was interesting to say the least...to take it from the word's of Howard Cosell, "Down goes Frazier, Down goes Frazier"

I'm unaware of any additional injuries. Hopefully the Cougs can heal up. Good luck to Bath County as well.
