Any time you lose 4 seniors who have moved on to play college ball you have some big shoes to fill. I can tell you being involved in that program for the last 4 years the girls are excited for this chance and upcoming season to continue the winning ways. Coach Coffey and his staff will do a great job getting the girls prepared mentally and physically for the upcoming season. The expectations are the same every year, and the girls buy into it and love the challenge.

 

Even though I am no longer apart of that program I will be watching and rooting for them (unless they are playing Boone Co of course).

 

It would be great to see a Boone Co vs Highlands Final. Hoping that I can hold a regional trophy with my daughter just like Coach Coffey has had the privilege of doing twice with this two daughters.

I didn't catch any JV or Freshmen games last year maybe she pitched JV or Freshmen last year. I also heard there was a talented 6th grader that has been pitching in summer ball for a couple years and is pretty good.

 

There were rumors at the regional tournament last year that a young lady who pitches might be coming to highlands. I guess that was just that a rumor or we would of heard about it by now.

 

Really what needs to happen in Northern Kentucky is the freshmen teams need to become middle school teams. A true developmental league where they can get games in.

Well in NKY (at NewCath for sure), when the KHSAA put the kibosh on 6th graders playing that killed our frosh team. Our frosh teams were nothing but 6th & 7th graders since 2011.....and we didn't have enough 7th graders last year for a team.

Highlands will be just fine, I would say catch them early on. They have a very good coaching staff and will have the young ladies ready come tourney time. Really enjoy playing at that field. Drove over there last year in the pouring rain and was wondering why I was even going. About a 30 minute delay and the field was in great shape, one of the few games that got played that night.
