Figs Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 I just saw this matchup on the scoreboard. Is this the mismatch of the week?
westsider Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Fulton County is a decent Class A team with some athletes and speed, but they don't have much in the lines. They may be able to hang with Lafayette for a bit, but not for the long haul. This was a game created by both teams needing to replace a team that dropped them from the schedule. Fulton County is making a 305-mile journey to Lexington ... is that the longest road trip in the state this year?
Figs Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 I remember some of the Fulton County teams from the '90s. Athletes with speed was definately their calling card. I'm willing to bet they are making the longest trip IN STATE this year. Didn't they have trouble this summer with the coach resigning/being fired and having to scramble to find a replacement?
cardinalsvoice Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Don't be surprised if Fulton County does not make a game out of it. They have some speed and the McClain kid at receiver is 6'4 or 6'5 and can move. I don't think they will win with having to make the 4 hour trip to Lexington, but I believe they can make a game out of it with the Generals.

The football coach, Mancell Elam, probably the toughest and best football player in Fulton County's history resigned before the season started as after posting one the best turnaround seasons in history of the small school they wanted to cut his salary in half instead of either keeping it the same or giving him a raise. It is a shame because I feel like he could have brought that program up to a contender year in and year out for at least the district runner-up to Mayfield, but now he is assistant coach over at Calloway County.

This time, they promoted their assistant coach ... James Bridges, another former Fulton County star that started at Murray State. The Pilots seem to have made a fairly smooth transition. They're scoring a ton of points, but the defense apparently needs some work.

It's a shame, because he is so big and athletic and would've helped tremendously.

WOW...thank you...I had not heard that...that does hurt the pilots as I was still under the impression he was playing.
Figs Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 Thanks for the info. I couldn't remember if it was Fulton County or Fulton City. Nine posts about a game involving Fulton County......who woulda thunk it??
