2 - 2 after regulation.

Straight to PKs

Gut check by both teams. 4 games in 1 and a half days is intense. Fair, fast game. Whatever Highlands coach said at the half worked. Birds came out with much more intensity in the 2nd half. Fun game to watch.

Congrats to Highlands on the win.

One of the better JV soccer games I've watched this year. Congrats to CovCath on a well played game. The younger Stava and Eric Curk both work hard and create up top.

Great work by the HHS keeper in PK's. Guessing correctly on first two CCH shots.

I would agree, the final was an entertaining game, both teams played well and well officiated game! Both CCH and HHS have some young talent in the pipeline, should be fun to watch both groups compete in the coming seasons.

A few side notes worth mentioning.

The crowd was great to see, one of the largest crowds I have seen for a JV game, larger then some varsity games.

The HHS keeper guessed correct on the first three PKs, saving the first two, great job. He went to his left, right and right again. He got a hand on the third one but it had to much power on it and went in. Obviously this had a huge impact on the final result.

At one point the young Stava (looks to be an emotional player in a good way, plays with passion) was taken out of the game. Two CCH varsity players at the game went down at the end of the bench to what looked like console him. This is great to see, not only varsity players there to support their school teammates but also there to lend a supportive voice.

Just a great night of HS soccer, congratulations to both teams and their fans!

Sounds like a fantastic game, congrats to young men on both sides!

As always, great shots @AllenR; thanks!

I told my son before the game, you never know when you'll play in another regional final. Have as much fun as possible. Both teams made it fun for the fans. Lots of grit, but nothing overly physical. Additionally the two teams have, what I consider, high level JV players who probably could contribute to their varsity teams right now. Luke Schweitzer comes to mind for Highlands. CovCath's central midfielders and left back as well.
