Bishop Brossart 13 Bellevue 6

Featured Replies

The Bellevue Tigers came to Alexandria with upset on their minds. The Mustangs had defeated Dayton 40-6 who turned the tables on Bellevue 14-13 a week ago at Dayton.

Based on the comparative scores, which is a dangerous proposition, the homestanding Brossart Mustangs layed over their Class 1-A opponents from Bellevue.

However, the game started tied at zeros and it was the Bellevue Tigers who dominated the first half. At the 8:42 mark of the second quarter the Tigers took a 6-0 lead on a 63 yard pass play from Tucker Thomas to Tyler Thompson. That's the way it stood at halftime.

Brossart responded at the 4:33 mark of the third quarter, completing a 68 yard drive when Senior quarterback Chase Keller completed a 45 yard pass to a wide-open Jake Sendlebach. When Sendlebach split the uprights to covert the PAT, the Mustangs took their first lead of the night at 7-6.

The Mustangs tacked on an insurance score with 5:33 to play in the game, on a Chase Keller one yard plunge. The PAT attempt was no good, giving the Bellevue Tigers a ray of hope, but the Mustangs defense was up to the task and the Mustangs survived 13-6.

Brossart will move on to Trimble County on Friday for a 7:30pm encounter with the homestanding Raiders.

Congrats to my "fish-eating" brethren in the south end of the county.

Keller and Sendelbach now those are some Brossart names.
