This is another I discovered thanks to youtube. While I've always been a huge Journey fan, I wasn't sure how they would sound with then, new lead singer Steve Augeri. I saw them at Riverbend in 2001 and was ABSOLUTELY blown away by this guy. To this day I could listen to the 1st Journey album with Augeri on lead vocals, "Arrival", all day long and not get tired of it.

I knew he was the lead singer of a band called "Tall Stories", but had never heard a song from them or never bothered to look them up on youtube until last week.......WOW!!!!!

Neil Schon tells the story of hearing the song "Wild on The Run", and pulling over on the highway, for several minutes, because he couldn't remember recording this song with Journey. :lol2:

Wild on The Run -

These guys were great musicians that came along at the wrong time. These are few more off their 1991 debut album, a couple solid "true" power ballads and others.

Here's the 1st track from "Arrival". If you didn't know, you would have thought it was Steve Perry.

He really was a big surprise at that Riverbend show. I recall going thinking, "Well, it might be an OK show, but it's still not Steve Perry", then this Augeri guy, that no one had ever heard of, hits the stage for a completely fantastic show, and the looks on everyone's faces was of shock and amazement.

His voice, looks, and stage presence was as if Perry had a twin. No one felt cheated, and I'm sure that those on the lawn absolutely couldn't tell the difference.

What started out to be seemingly a so-so show, from the first note it instantly turned into a truly fun evening of hearing all the hits of Journey done impeccably spot on.

Though the Filipino guy that they have now can definitely sing, and the story of them finding him on Youtube is interesting, they really nailed it with Augeri.
