nWo Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I thought I would go ahead and look at our next shot for severe weather. As of now that looks like Monday afternoon into the early evening hours. Strong to severe storms could be possible. For now the tornado threat is very low. As of now, it looks like from around the I-75 corridor towards EKY. I'll post updates as we get closer. Supercell Thunderstorms
All In Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Local stations in our area are reporting this could be a bad one
nWo Posted July 16, 2016 Author Posted July 16, 2016 So far the information I use is not showing a big tornado threat but we are still a little less than a couple of days away.
nWo Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 Sunday morning update. The models are not much in agreement yet so how bad the severe threat for late Monday afternoon into the evening hours is still up in the air. Actually this mornings NAM runs have shifted the severe threat to the west some. Because of the first round of rain that could come through during the day on Monday the severe threat maybe tempered. For now it looks like the main threats are torrential downpours, lighting and hail. For EKY the tornado threat is near zero. The threat has increased some for WKY. Another threat for Monday will be the heat index. West of I-65 Kentucky could see a heat index around 100. WKY from about Owensboro back westward could see heat indices as high as 110. It could reach 113 around Owensboro. Around the i-75 corridor the heat index looks to be in the mid to upper 90s. I'll update later this evening. Heat Index Dew Point

nWo Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 No real change in the outlook for tomorrow. The first round of showers and thunderstorms look to pass through parts of Kentucky mainly east of I-65 between 11 am and 5 pm EDT. Then there looks to be a break. The second round maybe entering NKY around 11 pm EDT. and pass through during the early morning hours. For now the possible severe storms don't look to be widespread. Any storm that develop could drop some heavy rain and have lightning. I will update in the morning.

nWo Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Monday morning update. Showers and possible strong storms look to enter into NKY around 8 am this morning. Some could see localized heavy downpours. This line of storms should be in SEKY by late this afternoon. The second line of storms should enter NKY around 4 pm. The tornado threat has risen some for those in the area between I-65 and I-75. It is low but there is still a possibility of a brief spin up with the second line. Of course I'll update throughout the day when I can if any thing changes. Most of Kentucky is in a Marginal Risk Category for today. Simulated HRRR Radars 8 am EDT 2 pm EDT 4 pm EDT
