June 22, 201610 yr Day 2 of our Severe Weather Alert Mode could be a dangerous one weather wise for some. As of this morning parts of Kentucky are now in an Enhanced Risk Area for strong to severe storms. This area is mainly north of I-64 and east of I-75. Cities included in this area are Cincinnati, Georgetown, Mt. Sterling, Morehead, Maysville, Ashland, Paintsville. Other parts of Kentucky are in a Slight Risk Area. This includes Louisville, Frankfort, Lexington, Corbin, Prestonsburg, Harlan, Hazard. The setup for today will be favorable for a significant wind damage event this afternoon into the evening. Also some could see large hail, cloud to ground lightning, and torrential downpours that could produce flash flooding. A couple of tornadoes could also happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Enhance Risk Area expanded to include parts of NKY later today. Everyone should stay weather aware today through the early evening. Here is what the severe weather categories could mean for today. Convective Outlook Map 2 pm EDT EHI 5 pm EDT EHI 8 pm EDT EHI
