May 10, 201610 yr USF leads the American Athletic Conference in strikeouts, yet they are in last place in the standings. The last series against Tulane is a perfect example. Friday, the staff strikes out 16 and loses 9-4. Saturday, they get 12 Ks and lose 7-1. Sunday, they strike out 14 and lose 4-0. The Bulls play #1 Florida in Gainesville, tonight. South Florida is 2-9 in midweek games. This is not going to be pretty.

Does the rotation feel like they need to try and strike every batter out instead of relying on the defense thereby giving up a ton of dingers? Offense is a little anemic?
May 10, 201610 yr Author That's eye opening swamprat. Does the rotation feel like they need to try and strike every batter out instead of relying on the defense thereby giving up a ton of dingers? Offense is a little anemic? Not so much homers, but they do give up a ton of doubles. They also walk a lot of batters. They are 3rd in errors committed and #1 in passed balls. Having a freshman behind the plate, after Pat Borders' kid, Levi, was lost for the year with a bacterial infection, has made things a bit dicey. In fact they start freshman everywhere except right field, second base, and pitcher. As far as the offense, they are last in almost every category. They lead the league in strikeouts on the offensive side, too, BTW.
May 13, 201610 yr Author The Bulls gave the Gators more of a game than I imagined they would. They hopped on UF early and led thru 5, 3-2. Florida tied it 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth, then USF went to their bullpen in the 7th and all hell broke loose. The Gators scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th and added 1 in the 8th for an 11-4 win. For as bad as USF has been, that is only the 4th game that they've given up double digits runs, the most being 13. Hows that for always looking for positives?

Sounds like the MLB team in Cincinnati...
