Wayne County Cardinals Final Grade: B+

 

The Cardinals went 11-3 with a pair of wins over Rockcastle County and Knox Central. Early losses to 6A Madison Central and Bell County got the Cards off to a 2-2 start, but they reeled off 9 straight wins before falling 21-14 in a tough fought semi-final loss to Johnson Central.

 

I think this young team over achieved. I give the Cardinals a B+, based on many thinking the Cards to be the 3rd best team in their own district coming into the season.

 

What Grade do you give them and why?

If we are grading the Cards on where they began and where they finished an A would be the rating. If we are grading against the rest of the field the B+ is accurate.

 

Watching the staff employ the platoon system for the first time with 7+ underclassmen on each side of the ball was impressive, and they definitely deserve an A.

Very good football team. With only 3 loses on the season in 2015 to 3 really good teams. Coach Thompson is 1 of the underrated coaches in the state. They were a few plays away from advancing to the state finals. My grade would be A.

Grade A. I concur with everything you said, Thompson could be the most underrated coaches in the state and has a solid staff backing him up. With what the Cards return for next season there are a lot of expectations of playing on the carpet.
