Mustangs best Camels 4-3 in nine innings on Saturday at St. Mary Field in Alexandria before an overflow crowd.

 

Each team had 3 run innings with 2 outs - the Camels in the 3rd against starter Keaton McGrath, and the Mustangs in the 5th inning to tie the game.

 

The game proceeded into the bottom of the ninth when the Mustangs put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no one out before coming up empty on our next two hitters. During our third batters at-bat a somewhat controversial balk was called ending the game and sending the 37th District seeding race to a coin flip between the Camels, Mustangs, and Scott Eagles.

 

Cory Embs was the Brossart winning pitcher. Hartig took the loss for the Camels.

It's is not a coin flip. The seeding agreement is runs allowed between tied teams which makes Campbell County the #1 seed. CCHS allowed 5 runs, SHS allowed 7 runs, and BBHS allowed 8 runs.

I was curious if there was a tie criteria.

The information I received from someone close to our program stated coin-flip.

I think that just changed this year. I remember previous years involved a coin flip. I think I prefer this method to a coin flip.
