On the plus side, the Generals made it to the 6A State Championship, they beat Scott County and Simon Kenton to make the finals, and in general terms it is refreshing to see a Fayette County 6A Public School make some headway.

 

On the minus side, Lafayette lost to Trinity and Male by a combined score of 111 to 28. The Generals also gave up 65 points to Scott County in a loss during the regular season. So even though the grade is pretty high and the they made the finals there is a lot of work to be done at Lafayette.

 

Do you agree or disagree with a B+ for Lafayette? What grade do you give the 2015 Generals?

Lafayette reminds me of the son or daughter of a prominent teacher who gets a little more credit than they deserve. They had benefits other people didn't quite have in the form of their elite D-1 talent, but they didn't necessarily parlay that into the success most expected and had to call in a few favors to get on the Honor Society.

Lexington public schools lack HUGE advantages that schools like St. X, Trinity, Male, BG have in spades. Saying they should have won more due to their talent is misleading. It takes massive talent to make up for the gaps in other areas (funding, commitment of players, feeder systems, coaches in schools, admin support, district support, facilities, etc).
