Final from high on top Tiger mountain. Cold and rain could not stop these two teams from scoring. Good game.

What is the condition of Beechwood's field? Just curious as I read a FB post about it being pretty bad compared to the awesome football field.

Names and stats? Good frosh in this one ... Castleman, Trusty, who else playing JV at Beechwood? Schwalbach, Cramer from HHS. Who pitched?

I wouldn't call it bad. It is rather tough for the infielders as it is a all grass infield. the left side gets worse hops than the right. It certainly needs improvement and we are doing just that. We added a warning track and padding to the walls. This summer they are turfing the whole field. Batters will always look into the sun at 6PM and we will always lose balls to the expressway.... that we cannot change.

The football field is getting a new turf and lighting this summer also.

You are right, both schools have a really good frosh class. Odom, Wagner, Doverspike, Johnson, Castleman, Trusty and Sherron, for Beechwood. All have spent time playing with the varsity, along with JV. Odom and Castleman did not play in this game. I was watching from the car (cold and rain) so I could not see which frosh there were for the Birds. I know Ziegler did not catch. Highlands had a short bench so several kids must have been up with varsity. I don't have any stats to share. Trusty pitched 4 innings, Sherron 2 and Cottingham 1 for Beechwood. Again not sure for Highlands. Although I did like watching #7 (lefty)for blue. Looked like he was hitting a lot of spots and had several strike outs.

I could watch these two teams every day.. they always play a close game.

These two teams definitely like to battle. The last 3 years (2 Frosh and 1 JV game) have ended in a Beechwood walkoff. They both like to communicate too! The game started off slow and heated up in the 4th inning. Birds scored 2 in the top and the Tigers answered with 4 runs in the bottom. Birds took the lead in top 5th 5-4 before Tigers scored 2 more to make it 6-5 ball game. Nothing in the 6th. Cooper Schwalbach hit infield single went to 2nd on the overthrow then stole 3rd base then went home on a wild pitch to tie the game at 6-6 in the top

of the 7th. Doverspike hit the single to drive in the winning run in bottom of 8th.

Griffin Leighty started for the Birds and went 3 1/3 innings with 4K's, 3BB's, 2HGB's and hits. Grif kept his composure on a crappy night. Rob Gabbard came in relief for 2 2/3rd with 4K's and 3HGB's. Cooper Schwalbach pitched for the 1st time this year and went 3 full innings. He also was the hitting leader on the team with 2 RBI double. He's been hot since he went with the longer pants. With the weather conditions, it was not a good night for hard hit balls. Most of this was from memory so it's not 100% correct.
