Most look at the Reds manager job and say what a horrible job. I actually think in some ways Bryan Price is sitting in a great position. Expectations are so low for this team that any success they have will be hailed as a nice job by him. If the Reds lose fewer than 90 games, people will be saying great job. How many managers in baseball have that opportunity?

 

Think about it. Anything that goes wrong will be laid at the feet of the front office for putting a terrible team on the field. This is an obvious rebuild with youth all over the place. Another bad season is not going not be labeled Bryan Price's fault. I even hear people already feeling sympathetic toward him for the team he will be managing and saying don't blame him for what happens. How often does a major league manager get to be in that position?

 

Don't feel sorry for Bryan Price. As far as job security, he may be in as good a position as any manager in baseball. Keep it under 100 losses and you will see him back next year.

I would say that is only true if the young rotation/bullpen arms make significant strides forward. He's a pitching guru. If that part of the team does not improve given the emphasis that the front office put on acquiring young arms he'll be gone after this season. His contract is up. They aren't going to sign him to anotheer one just because he stays under 100 losses. But then again this is the Reds--they might sign him to a 10 year deal.
