US Veteran Sets Himself On Fire Outside VA Clinic

This is the site, 75 feet from the front door of the Atlantic County, New Jersey VA clinic, where a United States military veteran killed himself by self-immolation last Saturday, March 19th...and thus far, the only news source I've found that has reported the incident was DisabledVeterans.org | Get the most out of your veterans benefits

The VA and the authorities have declined to comment on whichat branch of the military the deceased vet served in.

According to DisabledVeterans.org, the clinic, which opened in 2011, has reportedly been noted within the VA for not being staffed sufficiently. It has also been opting for telemedicing conferences which provide counseling by phone, a method which has been subject to debate within the mental wellness community. Most notably, this clinic location was one of the locations linked to the VA's internal report from April 2015 wherein it was found that one-third of the veterans on the VA's wait list for health care have already died. That equates to 238,000 dead out of 847,000 veterans who have applied for health care through the VA.

It is currently estimated that 22 US military veterans take their own lives each day. That's almost a rate of 1 an hour...all day long...every day.

Why the media blackout??

Because the VA is on the right track now that Bob is in charge...obviously. This is the time for legacy to be made and Mr. Obama does not want the blood of veterans, on US soil, on his hands. The VA is broken and has not gotten any better.

Anybody who thinks you can bring a guy in from P&G and just because he was an Academy grad and Ranger he's going to fix this mess is outside their minds.

The problem with the VA is that it is run by the government and not the military. Their restrictions on who can work at the VA are so tight that they cannot get quality care providers to consider working there. It just continues to perpetuate a lie to our service members that they will be taken care of after all the mess the government puts them through......

It's not sad, it's disgusting and morally wrong...everyone in politics that ignores this travesty should be sent to the box for a few months to see what's causing people to come to this level of desperation.

Guy was running P&G into the ground, why would you expect anything different in running the VA.

Exactly....BTW, he was never in a Ranger Battalion either, just tabbed out
