Final 2016 Maher Rankings & Movers of the Year

Featured Replies

The final boys Maher Rankings have been posted along with the Movers of Year. Movers of the Year is calculated by subtracting rank and scaled rating at the end of the year from those at the beginning. We also, of course, have the Upset of the Sweet 16, and the year end Region Strengths.

Check them out, let us know what you think, and check back soon for an update to the All Time Boys Basketball Maher Rankings.

Ok, it didn't take as long as I thought to update the all time rankings. They are posted! See where this year's teams fair among the greats of the last decade. We extended the all time rankings to 301 teams this year to get more of this year's teams in there.

I agree, Bowling Green seems to low. Replace Oldham with South Oldham.

Well, they certainly won almost all the games they were supposed to, and they were great at home, but also 1-3 away from home against the top 36. Even with the 4 wins at home against that bunch 5-3 overall against the top 36 probably isn't getting you much higher than #10 (not that 10 is bad at all!).

I really struggle with Bowling Green that low.

I agree.

The eye test has them higher

That's why computer ranks break down so often. A computer can't tell two losses in December came while one of the best players on the team (Thomas Booker) was out with a broken wrist. The only team that beat Bowling Green while entirely healthy was Dunbar, the eventual state champion, in the state tournament. The eyes just tell a different story.

Agree. Without a doubt Bowling Green is top 5, and you could argue as high as number 2.
