Bullitt Central 2016

Featured Replies

What does Bullitt Central need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

It would appear that Bullitt Central would have an up hill battle this upcoming season. They lost a great deal of very talented offensive players to graduation. (QB, WR, RB to name a few)

Any idea what their off-season is looking like? Assistant coaching moves? One of my coaching friends told me they may be returning to a more running attack next year (I think Coach Lawson may have a WingT background or something). This would be a big overhaul as much as they went 5 wides and aired it out last year.

Looking at some of the older threads:

Lawson was at Male, went to BC as OC/HC from 2014-Present

Did some numbers: Average stats for BC Offense past two years--

Points:371

Rush:2368

Pass:2173

Looks pretty balanced. Khsaa roster has them losing 15 seniors, on a small 5A roster. BC may be looking at a rebuilding year.

Balanced offenses are often labeled aerial circus acts by traditionalists.

2014 Rush-3160 yards

2015 Pass-2843 yards

4000+ yards a season is a circus act, I would enjoy watching.

Yep and even those that go about doing the above being one extreme or another.....GT/Navy/Army and TTech/Wazzu are all must see TV for me.

Those numbers are a little skewed. The offense went through the QB last year, even the rushing yards. Two years ago they had one of the most prolific rushers in high school football. Dukes, the QB, is gone, and it does not appear that they have anyone in the shadows. The rushing yards two years ago came from Carnell. He is gone too. It may be many years before they see two guys like those two walk through the halls.

What system/offense do they run??

Sound like they run the, get the ball to our play-makers offense. May not be a system, may not work without the 2 guys they had, may have to adopt an actual system like someone else suggested.

In high school, realistically, what coach doesn't run the "get the ball to the play maker," offense. The HC at BC adjusts offensively ...because that's what coaches do. They adjust to the times and personnel.

Again, X and O probably didn't need to come up in the interview process because what matters is the development of a program, not how the offense or defense works. If those young men have failed to learn certain responsibilities and expectations such as respect and honor, who would care about the offense then? Not a news anchor, parent, or principal.

What they need to do, in my opinion, is to never settle. I truly believe BC needs to play with more of a chip on their shoulder instead of the "poor me" mentality that the surrounding area has burned into the mentality of those young men. The athletic ability, size, numbers, and even facilities are enough for this program to be an effective small 5a program. It just needs a slight adjustment in culture and that started last year under Lawson and his assistants. It was evident in the passion the team played with on Fridays.

But what do I know, I don't bring up X and O during interviews with my future bosses.

IMO they need to worry about Def.... They gave up on average 30 points per game over 11 games. Everyone is talking about the O but Def wins games... Just my 2 cents
