February 29, 201610 yr Most famous shootout since the the Shootout at the OK Corral. Approximately 1700 total shots were fired in approximately 30 minutes. They exited the bank with just over $300,000 but were expecting twice that amount in the vault, which led to one of the gunmen emptying a full magazine into the vault. Woefully out gunned by bank robbers wearing body armor and carrying fully automatic rifles. The LAPD resorted to going to a local store to procure rifles that would penetrate the body armor worn by the criminals. Both suspects would die, one I by his own hand and one shot by the LAPD and bled to death. One thing that came out of this event was that Police departments around the country slowly began issuing patrol rifles to officers in the field. Before this shootout exposed the issue facing patrol officers getting outgunned, only SWAT officers or units carried rifles.
March 1, 201610 yr A lot more would be dead today, as those rifles they bought are outlawed in Kalifornia now.
