Magoffin leads the entire way as Paintsville struggled to put the ball in the hole. Paintsville played very hard but it was not enough. Magoffin Sophomore Ryan Mullins has 14 points and 20 rebounds for the Hornets. Lovely and Russell both in double figures. Magoffin vs. Johnson Central for district title Friday at 7PM. Outside of Piarist (who has never defeated a 15th Region opponent), Paintsville now has the longest drought of regional appearances for any team in the 15th (last appearance in 2008).

That is a HUGE night for Mullins! Congrats to this young man.

Congrats also to Luke Trimble on a great basketball career, was a team leader and always gave it 100% every time he hit the floor!

I can remember watching Paintsville beat Lawrence Co. in the 2012 district tourney and then push Sheldon Clark to the limit in the semi-finals before losing. Everyone thought that group would contend for a region title. Not only did that not happen, but they never won another district tourney game! I think Trimble was the only one that of that group continued to play basketball.

Will Bill Mike hang up the whistle after this season?

Does Paintsville have anything coming up?

Paintsville has some talent in the their 8th grade but no more or less than anyone else in the district. Next season Magoffin will return every player that started in districts this year. Johnson Central will return 4 starters. Sheldon Clark will return their whole team and add Dylan James and his 6'9'' 8th grade brother Trey James. Needless to say, next season will be tough on Paintsville as the 57th will again be very tough.
