Belfry OL Austin Dotson Receives An Offer From Marshall

Featured Replies

Dotson becomes the 3rd Pirate (current) Junior to receive a Division 1 Offer already.

Very well deserved honor and have a feeling it won't be Dotson's only offer.

Dotson is a 6'6 295 Tackle and was arguably the anchor of Belfry's vaunted line. What sets Dotson a part is his freakish athleticism for his size. He is an extremely quick footed linemen who excels at getting down the field and often times was even faster than opposing LB's or even an occasional DB. With that said he plays with a nasty streak and holds blocks relentlessly.

Here are his highlights:

Dotson is still raw and his frame could support even more weight. If he attends the camp circuit I expect him to really take off as a recruit this Summer. He is also an accomplished pitcher for the Belfry baseball team. Could you imagine stepping in the box against a 6'6 295 Pitcher in High School

Is he any kin to Irv Dotson? He was a massive human back in the day.

I am sure every Dotson is related somehow haha

His uncle is Tim Bob Hatfield that played for Belfry in the late 80s and early 90s and earned All-State honors.

Congratulations for Austin on a great offer, first of many IMO.

Dotson is a man and I think has the potential for some really good offers. The sky is the limit for this kid.

You should see Big Irv now. :D

Irv could play!

He ended up playing for Marshall and starting several seasons and was part of some of those great Marshall teams with Randy Moss and Chad Pennington.

Irv did well for himself...played on some good teams at Marshall. Who else is giving Austin Dotson looks? I love seeing players from Eastern Kentucky get looks and offers.

All my info i third hand... from what I gather Dotson is a super modest kid and hasn't even posted about this offer as to not look like he is bragging...

But what I have been told is WKU was really impressed by him at the Championship Game. Tennessee Tech is very interested (and might have even offered as well), West Virginia has also been talking to him.

The thing with Dotson is noone knows about him yet. He is just now getting onto the recruiting scene and did not camp with any schools. He didnt even have Hudl highlights until pretty recently and the Marshall Offer was almost instantly to the staff getting his highlight video out.

I honestly do not think he even realizes what kind of a prospect he is.

I watched a 4 Star Kid in Georgia at the Private School my nephew attends this past year. Same build as Dotson, same athleticism, same general Offense (Belfry would beat that team badly though). This kid was a Rivals 250 recruit with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Nebraska, and numerous other major programs...

I wouldn't trade an Austin Dotson for two of that kid!

Dotson was more physical, had better pad level, and missed fewer assignments.

If Dotson camps he will blow up this Summer.
