I have a friend who is considering a move to Florida, preferably the Naples area. Anybody know the really strong high school football programs in that area?

 

I have spent some time there but I am unfamiliar with schools and football teams.

I'd try to contact Dane Damron that was at Boyd Co last year. He coached for a few years down around the Lakeland area. There is a guy named Chris Metzger that took the North Oldham job when it first opened but he moved to I think Napels and took a Head Coaching job at a school there. He is a GREAT guy! I think he might have played at Holy Cross. You might ask around if you know anybody there and contact him.

It's been a few years since I've been in the Naples/Ft. Myers area, but Naples High School was the cream of the crop of that particular area. From what I remember Estero High usually has a good program also. Barron Collier was a quickly rising program, they may be as good as anyone down there these days.

Chris Metzger coaches at Lely HS and is doing a tremendous job. Taken that program to a new level. Great person, hard worker, class act!! There are a couple of jobs that will be coming open in that area soon from what I understand. Great place to live!!

Naples High won the state championship in 2001. Bill Kramer was the head coach then.

Naples just dont seem like a football community to me, its more like a retirement community.

I agree. But Naples High is sorta a magnet school for the southwest Florida area, it's where everyone wants to be.
