Dead & Company Summer Tour making a stop at Riverbend

Featured Replies

Remaining members of The Grateful Dead (minus Phil Lesh) just announced a full summer tour for 2016. John Mayer will be joining them and take on Jerry's role on lead guitar. The show at Riverbend is scheduled for June, 16th. Hopefully tickets will be a bit easier to get than they were for last years short series of shows.

I hate all things John Mayer so it really saddens me that he is touring with these guys!

Saving my pennies for Tedeschi Trucks Band....John Mayer is a tool.....

On paper the premise of a bunch of pot smoking, acid dropping rock enthusiasts sounds like a groovy time until you realize it's being done by some of the dullest squares you'll ever encounter.

This "Dead" thing has been dead for quite awhile, and the remaining masses of followers are merely unimaginative zombies.

Bob Weir is a classic example of a boring performer spending his entire career riding the coattails of a legitimate front man who died 20 years ago.

The only thing interesting now about the Dead is that it laughably keeps trying to be relevant.

Fortunately for the band, there's plenty enough lame pretend hippies to keep this long strange trip "alive" and rollin'.

I too wish Mayer was not going to be a part of this. I tried to get tickets to Chicago last year where Trey Anastasio was in Jerry's spot and Bruce Hornsby was on piano. but that turned out to be impossible.

Some of you that are ragging on them for trying to stay relevant may be surprised if you watch the bluray of Chicago's "Fare Thee Well" show. They actually put on a really good show for a bunch of old guys. But I get it, most bands catch a lot of flac when they try and make a comeback. I am a bit surprised that they are doing a full tour this year though. That said, I'll probably still be in Cinci on Jun 16th in a drunken stupor if it is possible to get tickets to this one.
