Coaching Carousel??

Featured Replies

This whole coaching situation reminds me of a gift exchange game that my family plays are Christmas time called "Steal the gift". One person opens a gift (coach takes a job). The next person that needs a gift can either steal the gift that the previous person got, or open a new one.. and so on. Does anyone else see the resemblance here..... :D :D

I guess not!!!!! :irked: :irked:

In my opinion, there are two problems with the coaching carousel that are not the coaches fault. The first is that in some high schools, especially those with a deep tradition, people will never be satisfied unless the coach produces teams that win at least 25 games per year, are always a state contender and , and this is key, play the right people while doing this year after year. The coach is put under such tremendous pressure to do all this that sometimes they leave just to get away from it. The second problem is that 25 years ago students and parents were loyal to a school and a community. They might not agree with the coach but the only options they had were to quit the team or stick it out. Today if the student and the parents disagree with the coach they either try to get the coach fired or transfer to a neighboring school. It has become absurd.

I think you hit the nail on the head here, every school you go to there is the immdiate pressure for a school to do well.
