As long as you play multiple sports, or design your training to avoid over use injuries, there should not be much concern. One of my son's swims year round, but the training is mixed with weight training, core strength training, even yoga.
InItToWinIt Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I had a friend who had a stress fracture in his back when we were still in middle school in about 2005. The doctor said if a 5th grader walked in with a stress fracture in his back 10 years earlier, the whole office would have been amazed and wanted to see. It is becoming more and more commonplace.
