Mercer County's merger and the improvement of Newport should make things interesting as Russell tries to become the first team since Danville (1987-95) to win three straight Region III titles. Can Russell do it?

Russell won't play Mercer or Newport in the regional finals this year because of the draw.District 3 [Mercer and Newports district plays district 5 E-towns] ,for the regional title. They wouldn't meet until later.

Hard to put Russell Anywhere other than the top with 17 kids returning that played in the championship game last year.

Didnt Russell win the region in 82,83 and 84?????

Yes, but it was in AAA.

Yea we are smaller now, we had 232 kids in my graduating class. We are now about half that.

Morgan is getting better every year and one day might beat the Devils ( but not this year). Fleming has had the talent and the size ,they just cannot figure out the Devils . Newport and Mercer if present coaching staffs remain at both schools can be scary .... The rest in this region are cup cakes .. Let's start playing , good luck to all ....
