Alexis Nelson 58 out of 61 points!

Featured Replies

Per Danny Weddle Twitter. St. Francis sophomore scored 58 points in 61-45 win over Piarist School. This was played at St. Patrick Gymnasium which would be the record for most points scored there ever.

Apparently also a record for any Jefferson County girl's player. Although this is a higher percentage than usual, St. Francis does not have much scoring power beyond Alexis. In the championship game, St. Patrick played a triangle and two, with both of the two on Alexis. She was injured early in the second half and did not play the rest of the game.

How did the triangle and two work against Alexis? I was curious when I heard about it.

They applied it full court, obviously trying to keep the ball out of Alexis's hands altogether. It was pretty effective as she handled the ball a lot less than normal, but she still had 20 points in the 20 or so minutes she played. She has worked hard and become a good free throw shooter, which is helpful because she gets fouled a lot.
