The odd part is playing 15u as an 8th grader cause ur to old for new Aau rules to play 14u. So you end up playing 15u twice if you want too.

Who calls it 15U is my question, because it sounds like this year AAU is going to have a 14U championship AND an 8th grade championship ... And I thought AAU always referred to grade levels ... Is EYBL, for example, set up so that 18 year old seniors to be, i.e. A kid that will turn 19 on September 2, plays in tournaments listed as 17U, or is eligibility set up for those going into their senior year?

Amateur Athletic Union(Aau) calls it 15u. Yes this year Aau has brought back the old rules for 8u-14u. Offering both grade based and age based. The high school age kids 15u on up never did change in the first place. 15u is 9th grade 16u is 10th. 17u is 11th. There is no 18u. Those play 17u or 19u. Nybl is grade based. If u in 10th grade and eligible by high school rules u play 10th grade etc.
