How will the teams in the county end up this year? (Harlan, Cawood, Evarts, and Cumberland.) All teams are returning good athletes. Please post any comments or predictions.:ylsuper:

Evarts will go as far as Jimmy Pike can carry them, along with some help from QB Cochran.

Harlan will run the ball and play defense and have a good year behind great coaching, my guess is they will surprise alot of people.

Cumberland returns alot of talent, Washington returns as the primary ball carrier, Cumberland also returns a very strong offensive line.

Finally, Cawood probably has the best returning backfield of the 4 Harland County teams. I expect White and Hensley to have great years, although the offensive line is a big question.

Where does Pike play , off.and def.? They lost their big back to graduation, right?

Pike played WR and CB, he may play some RB too I'm not 100 percent sure.He may play WR with the loss of Medford. He does play CB though.

Will Caldwell be with the team this year?? Is that why Hensly is moving to QB???

Not so much that Caldwell left the team, Just that Hensley was always a Nice QB, the first few years at Cawood, They had a QB, So Hensley played elsewhere, And last year, the QB position wasn't so great. Hensley to QB will help Cawood, IF Thats where Hensley plays.

the offensive line is a big question.

 

The offense I heard they'll be running, I hope the Line is ready......The Switch from the Wing-T will help also, That offense is complicated, and the last 2 years, I didn't think they had the line to run the Wing-T Like it should be run.

The best returning runner they have is Adam Helton at FB. Should have started last year. Had well over 100 yards vs. Paintsville last season. They also have Jimmy Langley who had over 90 yards in that game filling in for Mefford the second half. Pike plays corner on defense and sometimes safety. May move in the box this season as he weighs over 200 lbs.

How do you think they will do this year? Who do they play out of district?

It all depends on who they can find to block. Good skill back. Several kids who can run and catch, but some may have to convert to linemen. They played Clay, Knox and Letcher along with Cawood last year so I assume it will be the same.

Did Michael transfer back to Cumberland? I thought that he moved off. Also how is Blanton looking and who are gonna be some of the big play threats for the Skins? What's the line play looking like? I'd love nothing more to see them finish out these last few years on a high note and show that despite the merger, the best football in Harlan County is played up on the east end of the county at Harold Shrout Memorial.

Michael has moved back for sure, Blanton is lookin pretty good, he just needs to grow. He is very smart to be so young and understand the offense well. I say once he grows he will be a really good QB. The line is looking like it will the be strong point this year with 4 returning starters( Tyler White, William Marshall, Josh Jones and Jon Fields) and Josh Jones(315 bench, 500 squat and runs a 4.9) moving to gaurd to replace Gilliam will help out alot in the Wing T offense.

I have watched Cumberland play a few games......Do you all run the Original Wing-T.....Or more of the Wing-I?
