I know all of you have a personal favorite way to break in a glove so lets here them.

Yeah thats the best way but I give mine alittle help with some saving cream or some of that glove lub. stuff.

Put glove oil on a ball and place it in your glove. Then have someone put rubber bands around it(while its still on your hand.) Place it under a mattress. Try to take it out and use it every day. After about a week its ready to go.

Mink Oil....greatest glove conditioner ever.......to soften it up, and lots of throwing so the glove can conform to your hand.

Oil adds a lot of weight to a glove. If that's your goal...enjoy.

 

Oil to break it in may not be bad but to get it ready from year to year, it's not the best thing.

If you have a normal brown color glove it will darken it up quite a bit. It conditions a lot better than anything else I've ever used. Oil will dry out a glove. You can use saddle soap as many times as needed for ever. If you use oil over and over again you'll add weight to your glove, which I always hated.

I still have my glove, that I put saddle soap on from 25 years ago and it's in excellent condition.

 

If you want to break in a glove properly, break in the pocket area and minimize the amount of flex in the fingers, as this will eventually lead to a "loose" web and cause the pocket to spread out.

 

Saddle soap, like Sticky indicated in the pocket and put some on the lacing knots/strings, to help preserve them and inside where the palm rests, as this area often cracks or becomes hard/dry.

 

Clean with a dry cloth, any dirt or debris and you can even apply a liquid leather cleaner (not the spray bottle kind), let dry and then apply Saddle Soap.
