Biggest N. Ky Surprises?

Featured Replies

So what do you all think are some of the biggest surprises in Northern Kentucky baseball this year????

The 34th (I think) district of course, Villa as champions and Lloyd as runner-up was about as shocking as Ludlow beating CCH a few years ago.

I thought that NCC beating CovCath was surprising.

I was also surprised by Holy Cross's success with such a young team, the future looks bright for them.

I would also agree some higlights of the year for me were St. Henry defeating Beechwood (promising future for St. Hanks), Villa and Lloyd making it through the 34th to advance to region, Villa 34th district champions, Lloyd defeating Dixie in districts (a great game for all in attendance), Holy Cross' success this year with such a young and talent filled roster, NCC defeating CCH, Ryle's ability to perserevere hardship during the Regional tournament and still see rather good success only to lose to the State Runner up BW, (may not have surprised many but to me it said something about the team and gentlemen on the team's representation of the school), and lastly the overall strenght of the area in general, any team can defeat another on any given day, always makes things a little interesting.

Ludlow beating CCH:laugh: :dancingpa came as no big surprise to us down here on the banks of the Ohio knowing the talent that was on the Ludlow team that particular year. By years end that year the Panthers were playing as well as any in the District as proven by their District Championship..:dancingpa

Nothing against the Panthers, but CovCath had a good shot at a state championship, didn't they? Either way it was a shock to all of us ignorant people!

Apparently they had no shot.. They lost in the 1st round of the District so that is a long way from winning the State Championship.. Sorry guys but when you all start to clucking just a bit it takes good old BZ to give you a good dose of reality. Fact is a very good CCH team lost to a very good Ludlow team that on that day was better..:thumb:

Villa emerging as the 34th district champs and of course NCC defeating Cov Cath in the regional

I imagine the surprise of the year would have been the 34th district winner and runner-up.

NCC beating CovCath was not that big of a surprise.

Also a pleasant surprise that Beechwood had such a great run in the state tournament

Im gonna say Villa winning the 34th district, St Henry defeating Beechwood and CovCath in the same week and winning 19 games(most in school history), NCC over CCH in the region, and Beechwood being the state runner-up

CCH was a top 10-15 team in the state that year. They had a legit to play at Applebee's, where a 'best of 3' series would have favored them, IMO. The Panthers destroyed those plans though.

As far as this year's biggest surprise...my vote goes to Villa.

As did every team in the state before the 1st round of the Districts started. After the conclusion of the 1st round I believe it was Ludlow that had the more legit chance to make it to Applebees Park.;)

Speaking of ludlow......what happened to them this year in the first round?:sssh:
