Conner 40 Boone 6 (Frosh)

Final.

Actually, I don't know the precise final score. I do know this is not how the Rebels wanted to end the season.

On the first offensive series for Conner, their wide-out crossed towards the center of the field and the Rebel defender stepped in front of the receiver but the ball went through his hands and was tipped slightly in the air. Conner WR, Camp adjusted to the ball, made the catch for a long gain--bad break for Boone, good for Conner. I'd say Conner executed their game plan the rest of the way.

Another play that didn't go Boone's way was when they were driving and got near the goal line early in the game. QB rolled out and was met by several Conner defenders. As QB was fighting to stay on his feet he tossed the ball forward with his left hand. His thought was to throw an incomplete pass. It didn't look like a stand-in-the-pocket pass but his arm went forward and the ball went forward. It was called a fumble and Conner got the ball. Of course, Boone fans howled that it was an incomplete pass, and the Conner fans were just as vocal that it was a fumble. After years of watching team sports, I can tell you it does not matter what anyone in the stands has to say--though I also frequently voice my opinion . White hat said it was a fumble and that's all that matters.

Boone players, coaches, and fans were upset by several calls in the early going and there seemed to be justification on some of them, but that didn't change the outcome of the game. The officiating evened out after that.

Boone had some success throwing the ball. WR #15, Julian ????, made several fantastic catches. He was a late addition to Boone's team. He will definitely earn playing time at JV next year and is a future varsity starter. Boone was unable to mount a running attack. RBs were met just after hand-off on a lot of plays and near the line of scrimmage on the other running plays. Lots of heat on the QB and backs from several quarters. Boone had two more lineman out when the game started and a third was injured very early and sat out the rest of the game. He should recover soon from a sprain. The center for Boone last night hadn't played there all year. That's a hard position to step into and I give him a lot of credit for his effort.

On the injury front, the Conner QB went down with a leg or ankle injury late in the game when he was tackled and a defender rolled up on his leg. He was out the rest of the contest, I believe. We hope this young man recovers soon and can go on to the next sport or whatever activity he desires.

I did see some examples of good sportsmanship on the field. Several of these players know one another and have been competing together and against one another since elementary school. Conner frosh combined players from the BCPWFL Cougars and Tigers and Jags, and perhaps some others. Boone combined players from the BCPWFL Razorbacks and Longhorns.

I'd like to thank the Boone coaches for their time, effort, and input into developing the boys. Each one is a fine man and a good guy to have influencing your son. Two of them have sons in the Boone Co football program and one just loves to coach kids. These gentlemen love football and are in it for the right reasons, that is to develop the kids, and it shows.

Well, I really hate to say it, but the freshman football season is over for 2015.

Camp is fun to watch. Just made a comment about Castlemman and McGinness being the top 2 freshman in NKY.... but I think had Aiden (sp) had more help he would have been up there.

Hasn't Conner had a few QBs injured this season?

Not sure about Conner's injury situation.

Conner has a nice class with this bunch. Had a really nice year. I look forward to seeing them roll into high school ball with the two previous classes who also had good depth.
