mcpapa Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Basketball season for 2015/2016 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Holmes? Remember, please be constructive.
RCC9 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Top team in the ninth til someone shows me different.
AGullett08 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Agree! Have a lot of threats this year. Should be interesting how this season will turn out for them.
Memphis Rains Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 The loss of Tubbs present a challange. However look for Harris and Gully to have break out years assuming coaching doesn't mess it up.
AGullett08 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I'm sure their starting 5 will be pretty solid with 4 of the 5 returning from last year! Tubbs is a big loss, but I saw on FB that they've been attending ASAP for workouts. Same place CCH boys go. I expect big teams from this group of girls! Watch out for McClendon-Englemon, heard she has D1 offer and other D1 interest.

If she stays healthy and has a "coming out party" this year (and I only say that because I'd like to see a little more consistency out of her), they will be very good. IMO, they definitely have the best starting 5 in the 9th, but the way they play, it requires some depth when you run into whistle-happy officials. So that could pose issues from time to time. The only other concern I have with them is how do they score if teams "pack it in" and don't turn the ball over against them? They are a heck of a rebounding team as well, but even with shooters last year, they seemed out of sync when teams played them with how I described above. They overcame more times that not last year. Just interested in seeing that dimension play out with this year's team.
AGullett08 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I agree with you 100% - it should be interesting in how they adjust to certain aspects of the game! One thing I think this team needs to develop is a half court game! When HC last year slowed the game down on them they looked a bit lost. I'm an avid Holmes fan, but Perkins needs to develop a half court game for these ladies if he wants a shot at winning the region.

If they had any kind of efficient half court offense last year, we could have had a different state champion...IMO.
HardWoodFan Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Lady Bulldogs start the season as the team to beat in the 9th. Loosing Tubbs may bring them closer to the pack but they return a lot of talent...fast talent. If you can't handle the ball and beat the press, it will be a long night for anyone facing them. I would expect another great year from this group.
AGullett08 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I agree, this group of girls will have a great season! Have a lot of team chemistry, this may be their year they take the region! They will lose a lot of talent after this year. They just HAVE to develop a half court offense like RCC9 and I said.
