3A State Track Meet Recap

Featured Replies

Trinity won back-to-back state titles for the first time in school history, while Eastern won their first girls' title in eight years.

Trinity (74) beat St. Xavier (67), Bryan Station (53), and Henderson County (45).

First place winners for Trinity included Steve Orndorff (100m), Kenny Minogue (800m), Agyei Williams (110m hurdles and 300m hurdles), and Steven Jenkins (high jump).

St. Xavier was strong in the relays, winning the 400m, 800m, and 3200m relays.

Bryan Station's Stephen Morton won the triple jump and was second in the long jump.

For the gals, Eastern (56) nipped Ballard (51), Paul Dunbar (49), and Butler (49) to win the school's ninth 3A girls title.

Butler freshman Chelsea Brown made it a perfect 4-for-4 on the medal stand, winning the 100m and 200m dashes, the 400m run, and the 300m hurdles.

Scott senior Kortni Dukes won the 1600m and 3200m run.

Scott County senior Andrea Sabbatine (11-7) set a new state record in the pole vault, breaking the old mark by an inch.

Back to back titles for the Rocks. Not bad for a team that doesn't even have a track. What a great way to end the year.

Thanks Scribe for the link:thumb: The 2 boys for GRC didn't do bad. Tristian Jones won 2nd in the discus. Henry Hudson would have won 2nd in the 300 hurdles, but had a FS.

Congratulations T. Interesting observation regarding facilities. It underscores a sentiment of many posters regarding the importance (or lack thereof) of facilities. The top two finishers in 3A track this year did not have a track. One 4A football team has won numerous state titles and since 1959 has a winning record against all active Jefferson County high schools and does not have a stadium. Facilities can be overrated relative to the success of a team.

Congrats to Trinity! St.X's relay teams showed up. State record performance from the 800M relay team. Wow!
