Final

Johnson Central looked sloppy early after the week off. Fumbled on first play from scrimmage and fumbled in Harlan County territory in the 3rd Quarter. JC QB Bryce Workman had a big night with 3 TD passes (All caught by defending state wrestling champion Geordan Blanton) and 1 rushing TD. JC passed probably 40% of their snaps.

 

JC defense was tough again tonight and forced Harlan County out of the spread offense as nothing was working. In the 2nd half Harlan County went straight power with 2 TE's and saw some success. Harlan County will be fine in the years to come, just ran into a monster tonight.

 

On a side note, WYMT noted that Johnson Central had 16 kids bench pressing over 300 lbs. Thats getting it done in the weight room IMO and probably a big part of their success. It was also noted that JC now has a 23 game regular season win streak (last loss in regular season coming in 2012). With losses from some of the states traditional powers, I wonder if this is currently the longest regular season win streak going (I'm sure BGPer's will know the answer).

 

In summary, no surprises tonight and no injuries on JC's side of the ball as the defense looked dominate. A couple of Harlan County kids did have to be helped off the field after big hits (status unknown). Harlan County has some nice backs and the future looks bright for them moving forward. Still a few games away, but a collision course with Ashland is looming large with their outstanding RB.
