Final

This was the Homersradio.com game of the week and it was a good one. The hype coming in was Butler County QB Rex Henderson vs Rates Lewis and Apollo and thats pretty much how this one played out. Both dynamic athletes put their stamp on this one. Im not sure youre going to find a more "do everything" type of player than Rex Henderson. He ran for close to 100 and 4 TDs, and threw if for close to 300 and 2 TDs, with multiple passes defended on defense and two INTs, including one that iced the game late in the 4th quarter. The kid has accounted for 20 total touchdowns in just 4 games. On the flip side, Rates Lewis was absolutely electric, turning plays that looked busted into game breaking touchdowns. I didnt get Rates final numbers, but he was easily over 100 total yards and two scores.

 

Apollo's defense is much improved but still has a ways to go. They played the first quarter and a half about as good as you could ask for, but gave up 3 quick touchdowns in the last 4 minutes of the half. Until that point, Apollo led 21-7. The Eagles went to the lockeroom down 28-21. It was an uphill battle from there. They fought and clawed all game but where unable to match the Bears offense. Apollo had a few chances to tie it late, but credit Butler County's defense for answering the bell. Butler has a real nice 2A team. I expect their matchup with Catholic is going to be a lot closer than people think.
