Belfry 43 Harlan County 0

Belfry was a bit short handed between suspensions and a couple injuries, but it never showed.

Pirates simply overwhelmed Harlan County from the jump and the only thing that slowed them down tonight was Mother Nature. Freshman QB Avery Browning made history as the first Freshman to start for Belfry potentially in the history of the program. He then made history by completing both of his pass attempts for roughly 85 yards and both wound up going for TD's.

The Brother's Wellman had a nice night. Older brother Devin was the recipient of one of those TD passes and he had two beautiful punts including one that was downed at the 1 yard line. Young brother Derek scored two TD's I believe on only three total carries. In all Belfry ran only 16 offensive plays in the First Half and scored 5 TD's on them and had nearly 250 yards.

Defensively the Black Bears only mustered 30 Total Yards against the Belfry 1's and had -4 rushing yards. After a "quite" game last week (he still had two sacks, a forced fumble, and a deflected pass) Ray Horton returned to form with several tackles for loss and was unblockable. The Black bears gained someyards against the Pirate reserves, but the younger Bucs were able to preserve the shutout with aide of a running clock.

Belfry now must take a substantial step up in class from a Defensive standpoint as they host NewCath next Friday. If reports are correct, Belfry will play the Breds minus Willis and Corbett and Browning will definitely be tested.
