CoachBuckett
Another exciting week of 6A football. Many dominating performances individually and collectively across the state. Here is a look at how 6A is shaping up in the second week of the season. The Talk of 6A Trinity has to have the attention of everyone in class 6A. After back to back dominate performances by the Rocks, looks like they are ready to stake claim to number 24. The Trinity defense has been very impressive the first two weeks of the season as they have held their opponents to just 13 points. I know it’s only second game, but against these same two teams last year they gave up a total of 31. Offensively the Rocks are not too shabby either averaging 38 points a game. I know someone who won’t sleep much this week. Coach Shaw will bring his talented group of Generals to Louisville this week. Business as usual Club Male took care of business Friday night as they traveled east to take on Ballard. The Male offense was deadly even without University Louisville commit Keion Wakefield who has been out with an injury. Quarterback Hayden Shelton keeps putting up impressive numbers he was 18 of 26 for 315 yards. He threw for a touchdown and ran for two more. This young man has been on point this early season. Hats off to the Male defense as they have only given up 7 points in two games. I know everyone is looking ahead to the big game in two weeks. But this week will host Fairdale. The Scott County Cardinals (aka. Dallas Cowboys) picked up a quality win this past Friday knocking of 5A power Pulaski County. Was a tight game early but the Cardinals was able to wear down Pulaski and pull away in the second half. Offensively Scott County seems to be clicking averaging 49 points a game with their typical run orientated offense. Scott County defense was tested Friday giving up 31 points. Can they work out the kinks in time for the Bluebirds of Highlands. These two will meet this Friday night in Georgetown. Simon Kenton continues to just find ways to win games. This past week they took on a very talented Bryan Station team. Game was very close throughout. Simon Kenton explode the last 3 minutes of the game to take a commanding lead and pull out the win in Lexington. Hats off to Simon Kenton’s Dillon Powell who had a big night Friday. Dillon rushed for 286 yard on 40 carries. He also had 3 touchdowns. This week they will travel to take on NKY 6A foe Connor. This game could be a preview of a future playoff contest. Stock on the Rise I think Cooper stock is still rising. Yes we witnessed last week’s dominating performance that created the buzz for Cooper. I agree that this week’s win is not as big as last weeks, But I think this week’s win at Newport Central Catholic was a good win. They avoided the dreaded let down and came out and handled business with a shutout. I like how the won, not that they just won. This week Cooper will travel to Lexington for a show down with Bryan Station. St. Xavier looks to have made some improvement in two weeks. The Tigers pick up a win and start the season 1-0 after a dominate performance against Henry Clay. Some wondered if St. Xavier would struggle this year after their scrimmage two weeks ago. St. Xavier was led by the quarterback Desmond Rider who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw for 122 yards on 13 of 26 passing and a score. This week the Tigers will get to host 5A power Bowling Green. Will St. Xavier pill out the win at home? Keep an eye on Ryle has started the season at 2-0. They picked up a quality win at Lexington Catholic. They did it with a big rushing attack. Only concern is they are giving up few points. They host Boone County this week and Highlands the week after. Should be 3-0 going into Highlands game. Pleasure Ridge Park also has started off 2-0 on the season. They had a dominating performance over Meade County on Friday winning 35-0. The offense is putting up some points averaging 41 points per game. This week the travel to take on Doss. Madison Central has opened the season 2-0. They knocked of Dunbar this Friday 47-6. Could they be the surprise of 6A in the east? Too early to tell, this week we should find out a little more as they take on Bourbon County.
theguru
Cooper is definitely on the rise but then again they probably don't always get the credit they deserve. X looked good against Henry Clay but despite scoring a lot of points this past week their offense still needs a lot of work if they want to be consistent against Trinity and Male. I also agree on Ryle, if the Raiders can improve each week they will be a tough out in the playoffs.

theguru
Huge test for Cooper this week. No question about it, the BS game is going to tell us a lot about Cooper as a team and how they fit into the larger 6A picture.
