Nelson Co's D was excellent all night. Jay Moore picked off a pass at the goal line in the 1st half as Marion was driving for a tying score. Moore had a pick-6 in the 4th to help seal it.

Marion and Nelson were both very sloppy in the first half on offense with penalties and such. NC did a better job of correcting it as the game wore on. NC's defense looked quite good and was able to come up with big plays on key downs to stall Marion drives.

 

I don't know the exact count, but NC forced what seemed like 4-5 turnovers.

1st game of the season to be a little sloppy is expected. With that said being able to correct and over come is a sign of a good team. Good luck to both of them this season.

Moore also caught a TD pass that put NC up 22-7 and put MC into passing mode.

For Nelson County, the defense being ahead of the offense right now is a good sign. It's always the other way around as the Cards have been known for putting up yards and points but struggling to stop other teams.
