Interviews are set for next week. Candidates are: Tony Patterson (Knox Assist.), John Walker (Hazard Assist.), and Jim Bob Hicks (Shelby Valley HC).

 

Patterson is the leading candidate as of right now but seems to have some issues with parents and young kids on the team.

From the sound of it they are very interested in Walker from Hazard and are eager to meet him.

Seems they like Hicks because he is experienced but know that he likes to bounce around.

 

Those were the three candidates that I was told.

Do you have any idea why they have waited so long? Who was in charge this summer?

Tony Patterson coached the team some this summer but they didn't play many games, maybe 4 or 5.

I was told that's why it has took so long, they wanted to see what Patterson looked like coaching this summer. I don't think it went well, several players quit this summer. Again I do believe Knox Central is still going to hire Patterson.

I think I saw KC at least five times this summer. They played a couple of days at Pineville and two games at Harlan County. I thought they played pretty well, especially after losing five or six seniors.

What players quit? I noticed Marsee wasn't with them at Pineville.

Why would hicks leave sv?

I agree with Coach4. Nothing official, just a gut feeling I've had since last Spring, I believe this summer was a tryout for Patterson.

Spoke to a different person today and she said she don't understand how Knox can hire Patterson after he got caught calling a black kid the N word.

 

She didn't seem to think it was a done deal.

coach4 that is the major hang up right now from what I have heard for the last 2 years. I am still hearing that he will be their next coach. I heard they already got the jv and freshman coach hired too. Walker from Hazard would be a good choice foe knox.

Just had it confirmed by a Knox County Schools employee, Tony Patterson will be the new head coach.

I think Knox just blew a great opportunity to change things at Knox Central but then again they always seem to disappoint me with their stupidity.

I like Tony and wish him well. I just feel that this is a good enough job to have hired a proven winner. Regardless, good luck Tony. I hope you prove us all wrong.
