July 10, 201511 yr I'm going into a Severe Weather Alert day. Due most of Kentucky being in a slight risk area for severe storms. The chance for severe weather has increased overnight for Friday afternoon into early evening. The possible storms that may fire up look to be mostly in line segments possing risk for damaging winds. Much like what some of us saw yesterday afternoon. Because of the warm and unstable conditions hail and a brief tornado or two will be possible. At this time the timing is between 12-8 pm EDT. I'll be updating throughout the day when I can. Everyone please pay attention to your local weather this afternoon. Be weather alert.
July 10, 201511 yr Author A severe weather watch maybe issued soon. There is an 80% chance that a severe weather watch will be issued in the next hour or two for most of the state that is in the slight risk area. This mesoscale discussion was just issued about 10 minutes ago.
July 10, 201511 yr I'll be heading south and hitting Bowing Green around 3:00 CST. Am I getting storms?
July 10, 201511 yr Author More than likely you will. The NWS-Louisville has said that spotter activation maybe needed in that area this afternoon. That usually means they expect severe weather in that area. The main area they have pinpointed is around I-65 and the Louie B Nunn Parkway. I watch that area closely because of two of my children live in Bowling Green. I'll post any new information when I can.
