Tired of excuses!

Featured Replies

Im tired of people blaming video games for kids shooting up shooting up a school.

I'm tired of parents defending their kids that is bullying another kid for this reason or that.

I'm tired of people not dealing with the real problems at hand, the family break down. Regardless of being a single parent family, or having both parents, you are a FAMILY! Get involved with your kid(s) and you would be amazed how they can surprise you. Be that role model you want them to have, if you are not, get them one.

Quit blaming everyone else for something that could have been handled by having a family dinner together and just talk, find out what your kid is doing. It's not only your right, but it's your right to know what they are involved and to protect them.

Sorry, I'll step down off my box.

I am disappointed.

That I cannot like this post more than once. Some parents need to get control of their kids before they end up dead! Yet as you mentioned, too many want to blame others, or that their kid is a angel. WRONG! It's ok to at first question your kid, then look into the trouble that they got into, then with a sound mind THINK, what really happened? Is my kid innocent? Is he guilty of what they say he is doing? Or is it somewhere in between?

Just look at Saturday night in downtown Cincy. If that guy was exercising their right to protect themselves and carrying, you would have at least one, possibly a few dead teenagers! I can tell you that at least a few posters would have been carrying downtown. Lets say that the guy was carrying, what would the parents of these punks have to say after their kid(s) ended up being killed by a guy protecting themselves? They would be yelling left and right that their baby wouldn't hurt anyone. Yeah Right!

Also, having worked next to UC for a long while, I can tell you that too many kids are out past curfew, and I'm not talking kids who are actually good kids who are just bored, I'm talking about kids who are either out looking for trouble or seem to be in the middle of other peoples trouble. Where are these parents? You should know if you have a kid who is up to no good, but then again, SOME of these kids learn it at home.

This week, we will be attending the memorial for a 24 year-old young man who died of a heroin overdose after relapsing from his addiction issues. The young man was the best friend of our youngest son for a number of years until he discovered weed first as they entered high school. His parents are really nice people, but we tried to convince them that they couldn't just let their son roam the neighborhood skateboarding until bedtime or whenever every afternoon without supervision. I caught him, and my son, smoking outside our house. My son was sentenced to hard labor and grounded for quite a while. (Also, we never let our kids "just hang" somewhere where they weren't supervised and may not be safe.) We saw our friend's son out at a school dance the next night. We asked the parents why the then ninth-grader was allowed to go to the dance....we had grounded our child. The mother commented "he should be allowed to enjoy the school activities". She meant well, but she was just being naïve. Long story short...the young man became dependent on pot, then escalated to other things. He would have certainly had a scholarship to play college soccer, but he finished high school in a boys home in Ashland. Finally, through the love of a young woman who he married and is now pregnant 6 months with child, he cleaned up for a while. Until this.
