11th Region Finals Madison Central 32-6 vs. Henry Clay 17-20

Featured Replies

Madison Central is having an amazing year, will that continue with a win in the 11th Region Finals against Henry Clay?

These schools match up for the first time this season, but have several common opponents between them. Will be interesting to see if Madison Central can make it out of the Region this year (best shot they have had in a long time) or if Henry Clay has anything left in the tank after defeating LCA & is able to compete against the Indians.

Some stats:

Madison Central has a +206 run differential

Henry Clay has a - 26 run differential

Central is 10-2 in the region

HC is 13-8 in the region

common opponents: Woodford, LCA, Dunbar, Tates Creek, Scott Co., Bryan Station, Sayre, Model, Highlands, Ballard.

W-L against common opponents

Madison Central was 9-1

Henry Clay was 8-8

Thoughts?

Based on what I have been seeing, Henry Clay is on a roll from early season defeats. Who has what pitching left and what does Madison Central do with state starting on Monday? Game is also being played at Henry Clay. Does that make a difference?

As far as pitching goes, Madison Central will have everyone available. Lakes pitched 5 on Monday and they split the last 2 innings between 4 guys. Holbrook threw 4 on Wednesday, Kelsey came in in relief and threw the last 3. Per pitching rules all will be available for the Saturday final.

As for Henry Clay, they used McGeorge, who is their #1 Thursday for 7 innings against LCA so he is done on the mound for the regionals. They threw a bunch of inexperienced guys Monday against Model but I doubt they would use them vs Central in the finals. I'm not exactly sure who their #2 is but I heard them saying possibly Hukill for the finals. I haven't seen him pitch and dont have any stats for them.

As far as playing on their home field, that never really hurts so I would give them a slight advantage there, but I'm not sure that will be enough to carry them to the state tourney.

Not sure if Lakes or Holbrook is #1 . I suspect its a 1A, 1B situation. They ae both very capable.

In case you haven't heard Madison Central wins 8-2. Hukill started for Henry Clay. Lakes goes the distance for Madison Central. It was close through 2. Henry Clay got on the board 1st with a 2 run HR by Cameron Lord in the 3rd. Madison Central answered right back in the bottom of the 3rd with 6. They tacked on 2 more in the 4th.

Madison Central has a very nice team and could make some noise in the State Tourney. They really didn't get any favors in the draw but they do have a deep pitching staff. Lakes went 7 today so that means he will not be able to pitch on Monday so I would assume Holbrook gets the ball against Collins.

So it appears Madison Cent will throw Holbrook on Monday and then decide what to do with Lakes on Wed. OR throw someone else Monday and have the other 2 ready for the week. Got to throw a third guy in there somewhere
