Great win for the visiting team. Wolfe overcame a shaky 3rd inning defensively when Knott score 5 runs. Wolfe brought the lumber out tonight; Stamper led the way with a homer and another shot off the center field fence. Chris had 7 RBI's tonight. Sophomore Chase Nickel hit his first varsity homer, a two run shot to left, and finished with 4 RBI's. Chase also had a great game defensively behind the plate. Warren Oliver pitched nice game for Wolfe, getting his first ever 7 inning complete game. A very nice over-all team effort by the Wolves.

The Stamper kid can play. He pitched against Owsley Co, and was throwing in the 80's the entire time he pitched. Obviously the Wolves can play ball. They are a team to watch. :sssh:

Did you have a gun on Stamper, or are you guessing?

 

I know he sure makes the glove pop and I wouldn't be surprised if he were in the 80's, but I wasn't going to try to guess a speed. He struck out 13 at jackson city and 16 at breathitt, and had maybe one walk. He definitely stands out.

I wasn't there to see this one so, I am going by what a couple of players told me. KCC had an off night, to say the least. Taking nothing away from Wolfe, they played Knott very tough the first go around between these two. The Patriots are going to have to find a way to get rid of errors. Errors have bit them before.

 

Anyway, good game by Wolfe. I'd say that they could make it to the regional if things fall in place for them.

I have a stop watch that I use, just like every other coach should. He was bringing it at Owsley County, so I'm sure he was bringing it at Knott County too. I do have a radar gun, but it is hard to use while I am coaching third base.

During the basketball season Stamper would throw off on indoor mound in the gym a couple of days a week. He was clocked consistently with a radar gun in the upper 70's. His arm should be a lot stronger by now. I'd say he is not having any problem hitting the low 80's. I think he threw the ball harder against Jackson City than he did at Owsley. He really popped a few in there that had the catcher shaking his hand.
