Here's the draw for the 3rd Region tourney to be held at the Sportscenter in Owensboro.

Wednesday 6:00 PM

Grayson County vs. Muhlenberg County

Owensboro vs. Breckenridge County

Thursday

McLean County vs Meade County

Edmonson County vs Apollo

I look right to Muhlenberg vs OHS round 2. No offense to Breck, but they will be getting a very angry group of Devils. Breck has had a very nice season but I have a feeling that one could get ugly. I think Muhlenberg bounces back to handle business vs Grayson. That leaves Hoppers group vs OHS. While its a bad matchup for the Stangs, I never underestimate Tony Hopper. If Muhlenberg can hit some outside shots, they MAY be able to make it interesting.

In the bottom part of the bracket, im not sure Apollo could have gotten a better draw, but games are played on the floor and not on paper. Ive seen a lot of lesser teams push Apollo to the limit with a tight zone. I think Apollo puts it to Edmonson but a Meade/Mclean 2nd round matchup will be waiting. If Meade wins, they can point to their 2-0 record vs the 9th district. If Mclean wins, they can look to a tight game vs Apollo at Eagle Arena just a few weeks ago for motivation. Mclean would also love a shot at former coach Barker. At the end of the day, if the Apollo team that ive seen the past 5 quarters shows up, they will walk to the championship game.

I think we all expect an OHS/Apollo rematch a week from Tuesday. Baring a major upset, that matchup will take place. It will be the type of game that will get the winner ready for whoever they face at Rupp. I look for another heavyweight slugfest if they hook up again.

ApolloFan - I think you are right on the Muhlenberg/OHS game. Again, I think the size will be way to much for Muhlenberg to handle, however, if Muhlenberg can hit some outside shots, and get a lead, I would not want to try and play catch-up to a Hopper team.

On the bottom, I think it will be a McLean/Apollo semi match up with a hungry bunch of Cougars, who has you have so accurately stated would love nothing better than to upset form coach Barker. However at the end of the night, I think it will be an all 9th District final, and I think Barker and company get it done at the end of the day and will make the trip to Rupp and represent the 3rd Region! How's that for a prediction?
