I was writing up a show run down for The Homers show and thought since no one was discussing the 3rd region districts, i would throw mine up on here......

 

12th District - @Edmonson County HS

TUE- 1)Edmonson Co. 16-11, 5-1 vs 4)Butler Co 8-18, 1-5 (EC won both - 10pts & 1pt)

TUE- 2)Grayson Co. 16-10, 5-1 vs 3)Whitesville Trin. 10-18, 1-5 (GC won both by 9pts & 23pts)

FRI - Championship

MVP-Zach Burden(22ppg) ....Alex Shelhart, Talon Gary(GC), Daniel Morris, Dakota Wathen(WT)

 

I think the 12th ends up going chalk but it would not shock me to see Whitesville Trinity upset Grayson. The Cougars have been struggling as of late and Trinity is playing very good basketball. If the Raiders are hot from long range, they could pull the upset. Ill take Edmonson to win the district. They have closed the season very strong winning 9 of their last 11 games.

 

11th District - @Cloverport HS

B/G Double Header (Breck Mon, Meade Tues) (Championship Friday)

1)Meade Co. 14-9, 5-1 vs 4)Hancock 16-11, 1-5 (MC won both 16 & 4)

2)Breck Co 16-9, 5-1 vs 3)Cloverport 8-14, 1-5 (BC won both by 19)

MVP-Nick Smith (21 ppg) C, Ty Ogle HC, Ben Miller, Cody Mingus BC, Josh Durbin MC

 

One of the better 1st round matchups in the entire region is Meade vs Hancock. The Waves won both meetings but Hancock has improved as the season has gone. Meade has faired well vs the region, going 8-2. I have a feeling that the Hornets find a way to pull the upset. The other matchup has been lopsided both times out, but Nick Smith gives Cloverport a chance. I predict Breck over Hancock in the district championship.

 

10th District - @Ohio County HS

B/G Double Header Monday - Girls CG Wed, Boys CG Thurs

2)Mclean Co. 8-15, 2-2 vs 3)Ohio Co. 6-21, 0-4 (MC won both by 3 & 8)

MVP-Hunter Noffsinger 15ppg, Noah Mcelwain (Stangs), Will Hudson, Jake Logdson(MC), Jonathan Calloway(OC)

 

Muhlenberg has already punched their ticket to the regional tournament. The Mustangs have improved greatly as the season has gone along and have wins vs DC and Apollo. I look for them to win the 10th. Before that, Mclean and Ohio meet in an elimination game. Ohio has had a tough year losing two D1 recruits and going winless in district play. I think Will Hudson and company finally get over the hump and take McLean County to the regional tournament for the first time in a long time!

 

9th District - @Sportscenter

TUE-1)OHS 23-2, 6-0 vs 2)Catholic 12-14, 0-6 (OHS won both by 10 &3)

WED- 2)DC 18-7, 3-3 vs 2)Apollo 15-12, 3-3 (Split AHS by 7, DC by 17)

FRIDAY-Championship

MVP-Aric Holman, Justin Miller(O), Eli Wright(A), Ed Carter(OC), Marshall Griffith(DC)

 

Any one of these 4 teams could end up winning the 3rd region IMO. OHS are heavy favorites over Catholic, but stranger things have happened in the 9th. Catholic is healthy for the first time since very early in the season. The Aces will be hungry for an upset. I think Catholic keeps it respectable, but the senior leadership of OHS wins out in the end. Apollo/DC has to be one of the better district elimination games in the state. This one could go either way. Apollo has been wildly inconsistent all season but have a cast of talent that could make noise state wide. DC has been steady for most of the season but stumbled down the stretch vs Meade and Muhlenberg. DC blew Apollo out of their own gym a month ago by controlling the tempo. The team that can control the pace, will be the team that wins the game. I think Eli Wright finds a way to get his team back to the regional tournament.....somehow. Ill take OHS to win the 9th vs whoever comes out of that Apollo/DC battle.

Apollo Fan great job. The only thing I disagree with is I do believe Meade will beat Hancock. Meade looked great the last time I seen them in defeating Grayson at Grayson.

 

Other than that, I think you are spot on.

Thanks........the 10th pushed their games back til Tuesday night and made Thursday night a B/G double header championship. As far as ive seen, alll the other games will happen on time.
