Something looks to be brewing for our area beginning of next week. Way too early to predict anything. Just thinking out loud. Could be something at least as bad as what parts of Kentucky got this week snow accumulation wise. I'm watching it though.

this is the 99 hour map. Meaning it is looking 99 hours into the future on Monday. As you can see it is shows a low pressure system forming and going just south of Kentucky through Through Tennessee. It could mean some snow for most of Kentucky but it is still too far out into the future for any definite forecast. Everyone just needs to keep an eye on the situation. I of course will be posting updates whenever the information warrants it.

Here's the Thursday evening update. The chance for snow for most of Kentucky starting Sunday into Monday. This system will be coming up from Mexico. The exact track of the storm is still uncertain. If it tracks further to the south Kentucky can take a big hit.

 

So I'm going to hold off until tomorrow before making in accumulation forecast.

 

As everyone can see the chance is around 80-90% for parts of Kentucky. Especially the Cincinnati/NKY area.

 

This first map is around 7 am Sunday morning.

 

 

This one is for around 1 pm Sunday afternoon.

There is a strong possibility of snow over the next few days which may impact much of KY. Especially Super Bowl Sunday. How much and exactly when is still uncertain! Different weather forecast models show different predictions and accumulations. Some accumulations may be significant!

 

Best advice is to watch the weather closely and avoid travel during inclement conditions. Always allow extra time and take it slow if you must travel during hazardous driving conditions.

I'll go out on a limb and predict the Ashland area recieves about half a foot of snow by Monday morning.

If you want that then you need the low to pass south of Kentucky through Tennessee. That what makes it so difficult more than 48 hrs out to predict snow accumulations. It really depends on the track of the system. Model runs have showed it going through Kentucky which would mean the the most snow will be in Ohio. Then some have showed it going through Tennessee. I'm waiting for the release of this mornings runs before I make my updates.

Friday morning update:

 

 

 

First let me say that these are very preliminary snow accumulation amounts and will be fine tuned as we get closer to the Sunday-Monday time period. Next let me say that those north of a line from Evansville, IN eastward through Nicholasville to Huntington, WV should start preliminary preparations for this storm.

 

Those north of a line from around Carrolton to Maysville should prepare now. North of that line there is greater than a 90% chance of accumulating snow. For Cincinnati/NKY it is greater than 95%.

 

 

Now for the preliminary snow fall predictions. As I said these will more than likely change as we get closer to Sunday. Also if they continue this afternoon I will go into a winter weather threat mode.

 

The area north of the line from Williamston is looking at 4-6" but if this storm takes a more southerly track the Cincinnati/NKY area could be looking at 6-8" right now the 6-8" area is around Hamiliton, OH.

 

Areas from I-64 north to Williamston is looking at 2-4". The cities included in this area are Louisville, Frankfort,Lexington and Ashland.

 

South of I-64 could see any where from a dusting to 2". Southern Kentucky could be just looking at rain.
