Letcher County are they for real?

Looks like Letcher has got off to a good start. Anyone seen them play? can they compete with other teams in their region?

I knew when they hired Bryan Dean as head coach that the Cougars would be a factor fairly quickly in the region, but I wasn't sure about this year. It sounds like they're off to a good start.

Way to early to know. They should have talent with the combining of the 3 schools, but that did not seem to help their football or basketball teams that underachieved. I think it is safe to say, up to this point, it has been a disappointing year for Letcher Central's boys sports. --- Unlike the successes of the Ladies (volleyball and basketball- 14th region champions).

Like I said in another thread, with a team like this it will be hard to tell untill around mid-season. I look for them to be kind of like the first year East Ridge squad, who started off slow, then became good, then by the end of the season was playing as good of baseball as anyone. However, the lack of chemistry killed them in the Regionals. But I look for Letcher to be the same :thumb:

There coach knows the game, and the will be "for real" very, very soon. Also thanks to Coach Dean for the directions to Jenkins on Saturday. If it wasn't for him we would have been lost in "Gods Country".

I don't know if it's God's Country or not, but I know it's a long way from Booneville....around 90 miles. Booneville is only 85 miles from Lexington, so we're closer to Lexington than we are Jenkins. Jenkins is probably located closer to more 15th region schools than they are to those in the 14th region.

LCC should be a top 2 or 3 team in every sport every year based on sheer numbers alone.
