Knott County Central wins the WYMT Classic, keeps rolling

Knott County Central Patriots would participate in the annual WYMT Mountain Classic, this year the classic would be held at Perry County Central. Knott County Central would open up with Harlan County and like always, the Patriots would prevail. Knott Central would advance in the winners bracket to face Clay County in the second round. This would be the game that the Patriots would have the most problems with as they barely escaped with a 56-51 win to advance to the championship game against the hometown, Perry County Central Commodores in a 1 vs. 2 matchup. Game was never close as Knott Central would roll to a 56-41 victory.

Evan Hall was named MVP of the WYMT Mountain Classic, averaging 18.3 points per game.

Perry County Central 3 game win streak comes to an end, falls in championship game of WYMT

Perry County Central rolled into the WYMT Classic after defeating Taylor County last Saturday, looking to continue their win streak but it wouldn’t be easy as the Commodores would open up with Knox Central Panthers. The Commodores wouldn’t have much of a problem with Knox Central as they would roll to a 72-41 win. Braxton Whitmore led the Commodores with 25 including going 5/7 from long range. Perry County Central would advance to the second round of the winners bracket were they were awaited by Buckhorn, a team they had beaten by 6 earlier in the year. Much like the first game, this game would be a dandy but once the final horn sounded, the scoreboard showed Perry County Central 45 Buckhorn 37, advancing the Commodores to the championship game against #1 Knott County Central. Perry County Central looking to upset the Patriots, that would not be the case on this night as Knott Central would storm past the Commodores 56-41.

What has happened to Hazard this season?

Hazard - Lost a lot from last season

June Buchanan - New Coach (Elisha Justice), returned 13 players from last year's team, will probably be even better next season with only one senior on the team (according to KHSAA Roster)

Do they have any foreign players this season? I swear I never knew Justice was their Coach. Glad they are doing well

JBS has the two kids that sit out at Hazard last season and another foreign kid that was on the team last year.
