I would say UHA is not top 40. They haven't beat a top team and the best team they play is Murray and they got beat.

Had so many teams behind them not lost and dropped out they probably would have dropped out too....if they lose again they will be out. Who from KY do you think deserves to be in front of them that isn't already??? Highlands? Dunbar? Graves Co?

I am very proud of my Holmes Lady Dawgs!!!! But with all do respect they are ranked a little lower than they should be in this. Undefeated and have only played 2 home games with Wins on the road at GRC, Shelby County (NOT VALLEY) and Graves County who is a very good teams that has a win over a Tilghman team that has a win over Murray. Mercer County has split matchups with a 10-5 Bowling Green and IMO as we stand today and I cant speak for the Tennessee portion...Holmes is ahead of at least those three teams in KY rankings! And Holmes , Covington Holy Cross and Male all have wins over Boone County.

It is with all due respect to the person or persons that put this list together, and with only intent of humor, that I will say this. Anyone who attempts to rank and then publish girls high school basketball teams within two states, is either half crazy or stupid brave. Maybe both. My hats of to you guys. It's good to know that someone out there isn't afraid of being proven majorly wrong on a weekly basis. As long as your having fun, keep at it!

We may have missed on Holmes earlier but they are in the poll now...keep winning and you will keep moving up. BG is a very good 10-5 team, a team who has played a much more difficult schedule than many teams, hence their record. 3 of their losses are to Manual, Mercer and South Warren. They have wins over Mercer, Webb (TN), Bell Co (3 ranked teams), so splitting with Mercer Co is not all that detrimental. Mercer Co other loss was a 4 point loss to the #2 team in the state Henderson Co. Hard to penalize them too much for keeping it close with the 2nd best team in the state. Btw the loss to BG was by 1 point....so their 2 losses are by 5 combined points.

The reason Holmes is not ranked higher is that they have a very weak SOS. Graves Co who is a good team (but not ranked by us, bcuz even tho they beat Tilghman, they lost to Murray twice) is arguably the best team they have played (and beat) all year. GRC who should be better than they are....are struggling, although GRC has played a very tough schedule.

And great point using Boone Co. Both Male and HCC crushed Boone Co, while Holmes only won by 5.

Scores, SOS and W-L record factor in to our poll, not just W-L record. Thanks for you feedback....trust me Holmes has caught our attention and we will move them up accordingly. Beat HCC on Jan 22nd and that will be a high quality win.

We cover both states (We are the ONLY NCAA sanctioned recruiting service that covers both states), so we discussed doing two separate Top 25s but in the end, we felt there was enough cross-over, ie Paducah Tilghman vs Dyer Co., Murray vs many west TN opponents. Knox Webb playing in the Mercer Co tournament. Etown vs Blackman....and the list goes on that we would try our best to do a combined poll. It has been very difficult, but it is fun and creates a good amount of discussion...and at the end of day, creating increased discussion of WBB in general is a good thing. So blast away...I have no idea explaining why we put teams where we do in the rankings....we don't expect everyone to agree....the world would be a very boring place if we all agreed on everything.

Just for sake of argument and all in good natured conversation but Henderson, Holmes HAVE roughly same strength of schedule around mid 50's and out of roughly 270 Programs in the state I wouldn't consider it a weak SOS?!?! And the 5 point win over Boone you referenced was without starting point guard Jaynice Stoval in the lineup defensively a game changer and a great facilitator of the Holmes offense. And by the way I think we all appreciate the service provided by these and other rankings!!

While Henderson's SOS on paper (vs only KY teams) maybe similar but they have beaten Mercer Co and Manual as well as playing 2 good Indiana teams. The out of state teams Holmes played in Florida where not particularly strong teams IMO. That being said...it is possible we have Holmes somewhat low, but ultimately keep winning and you will keep moving up.

Henderson has played much tougher schedule then Holmes. Also Holmes beat graves by just 12.

Okay. My turn. Highlands is just as good as Holy Cross and Holmes. In fact, locally, Highlands has been rated by the coaches higher than Holmes all year and in some weeks equal to Holy Cross (receiving the same amout of 1st place votes.) I think the local coaches know the teams better than folks around the state.

Now with all that said...polls mean nothing. But I thought I'd add some commentary to the thread. I'm not sure why statewide, Holmes has ranked higher than Highlands so far. You can say SOS, but I'm not buying it. HHS' schedule is hampered by two district opponents that they have to play that drives that sos way down. Take those two away and the schedules are very similar IMO. Yes, they had a horrible day against Owensboro Cath and Walton, but have beaten everyone else handily. So in a poll after this week, I could see Holmes moving ahead. But not by very much and you won't convince me HHS isn't as good any team in NKy. And everyone up here knows it.

Ahem 5 Nky coaches have voted

And Holmes and Holy Cross have both traveled outside of the 275 loop for looks at different talent and exposure!

We will all find out how good Holmes , Highlands and Holy Cross are come regional tournament time. Debate here until you are blue in the face, it will resolve nothing. Just admire your teams and enjoy the ride as long as it lasts.

And Holmes and Holy Cross have both traveled outside of the 275 loop for looks at different talent and exposure!

So traveling makes you better? And we have played Sacred Heart, Grant co, S Oldham, Boyle Co, Owensboro Catholic, Shelby Co (scrimmage), Bryan Station (scrimmage). If you add Campbell, Walton and Brossart, we've played more teams outside our region than inside! Traveling doesn't make you better!

And those 5 coaches...are still 5 coaches within the region that feel HC and Highlands are very close with Holmes right behind them. It may not be all the coaches, but 5 feel that way. And 5 is about half of the big schools that would have a clue anyway. All the other schools wouldn't have very much insight anyway because they don't play the top teams. Theres only about ten teams that play all three and would know the talent.
